The sE8 Supercardioid completes the sE8 family, bringing a tighter pickup pattern to sE Electronics' acclaimed small-diaphragm condenser platform. Where the cardioid model is the versatile studio standard and the omni captures a room wholesale, the supercardioid narrows the field. sE positions it for situations where maximum isolation is the point: it captures the source cleanly while cutting bleed from everything around it, on stage as readily as in the studio. Underneath, it is pure sE8. A hand-crafted true condenser capsule with an ultra-thin three-micron gold-sputtered diaphragm delivers the fast transient response the range is known for, while transformerless Class-A circuitry — built without integrated circuits — keeps the signal path transparent and free of colouration. Switchable 80 Hz and 160 Hz low-cut filters tame rumble, footfall and proximity effect, and switchable 10 dB and 20 dB pre-attenuation pads extend headroom for loud sources. The sE8 capsule mount is interchangeable, so a single sE8 body can move between supercardioid, cardioid and omnidirectional capsules as the session demands. That makes the sE8 Supercardioid equally at home as a dedicated close mic on snare, toms and percussion, or as part of a wider modular kit covering acoustic guitar, orchestral instruments and solo sources.
