At its centre is a compact 3.9-inch TFT full-touch display that puts your entire signal path on screen, so levels, effects, plug-ins and mixes are adjusted with a fingertip rather than buried in menus. It is small enough to stay genuinely portable, but clear enough to manage a complex setup at a glance.
When fine-tuning matters, the Precision Digital Encoder takes over. This multi-function rotary control adjusts whatever parameter is currently selected on screen — gain, volume, effects, plug-ins or mixer settings — giving you the accuracy of a physical control alongside the speed of touch. Used together, the two form a hybrid workflow that keeps you moving without breaking creative focus. Microphone, instrument, OTG and headphone gain can all be controlled independently in real time. Behind the interface, the audio path stays serious.
Up to 116dB of dynamic range captures quiet detail and hard transients with equal confidence, while 63dB of analogue microphone gain brings weak signals forward cleanly. Conversion runs at 24-bit and up to 192kHz (44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 and 192kHz selectable), with THD+N as low as -108dB and a 116dB signal-to-noise ratio keeping the noise floor well out of the way. UNI OTG lossless digital transmission holds everything stable when you are passing audio between devices.
The aio2 is housed in a durable metal casing with a magnetic ring and mounting holes on the base, so it drops onto a wide range of common stands and mounts. Long-distance infrared remote control is supported for hands-free adjustment, and the bundled iCON iO Pro software adds deeper routing, insert and aux plug-in handling on macOS and Windows. It is equally at home tracking vocals in a home studio, running a podcast, or travelling in a mobile creator rig.
