The Competitive Upgrade lets owners of a qualifying audio sequencer move to the full version of Digital Performer 12 at a reduced price. Qualifying products are Acid, AudioDesk, Audition, Bitwig, Cubase, FL Studio, Live, Logic, Nuendo, Pro Tools (excluding Intro, Free and First), Reason (version 6 or later), Record, SONAR, Sound Forge, Soundtrack Pro, Studio One (excluding Prime), Tracktion (excluding T7/Waveform Free) and Vegas. Switchers can import key commands from Pro Tools, Cubase, Nuendo, Logic and Live, so the move feels familiar from day one.
Dolby Atmos® mixing is fully built in. Place up to 128 channels anywhere in the 3D sound field, including elevation, and move them with DP's familiar mix automation. Monitor on speaker systems up to 9.1.6, or binaurally on any standard pair of headphones. When the mix is done, export a Dolby Atmos ADM file for spatial streaming services, the mix stage or other Atmos-equipped studios.
MOTU's own AI-powered Stem Separation splits a finished stereo mix into drums, bass, vocals, guitar, ensemble strings and ensemble brass in a single operation. Use the stems for remixes and mashups, pull dialogue away from a scene's background audio, or mute a part and play along. The new Arrangement Strip lets you reorder whole sections across every track by dragging their coloured bars, with quick gestures to duplicate, snip, split and delete.
DP12 also adds dozens of workflow upgrades. Tracks now freeze in place with one click and can still be mixed while frozen. Track presets hold everything from I/O and EQ to plug-in chains, and tags make big templates searchable. Keysets and imported key commands from Pro Tools, Cubase, Nuendo, Logic and Live help new users feel at home. It also brings MusicXML round-tripping with Dorico, Sibelius and MuseScore, high frame rate support up to 120 fps, the Performer Producer Pack of loops, MIDI chords and hundreds of arpeggios, plus built-in Tutorials and Flyover Help.
