The sE8 Omni takes the acclaimed sE8 platform and opens it up. An omnidirectional capsule captures evenly from all directions with no proximity effect, which makes it the natural choice for room microphones, orchestral and choral recording, and any ensemble where the space itself is part of the sound. The capsule is hand-crafted and individually tuned at sE's own factory around an ultra-thin gold-sputtered diaphragm, with a precision electrode optimised for linearity. Behind it sits transformerless Class-A circuitry built without integrated circuits, delivering a wide dynamic range and clean transient response. Switchable 80 Hz and 160 Hz low-cut filters and switchable 10 dB and 20 dB attenuation pads cover everything from distant ambience to high-SPL sources. Like every sE8, the capsule mount is interchangeable, so the same body can be converted to cardioid or supercardioid as the session requires.
