The sE8 Supercardioid Matched Pair puts two hand-built small-diaphragm condensers in one case, selected at the factory for identical performance. Convincing stereo recording depends on consistency between capsules, and sE matches every pair from a large batch of individually tuned units so that imaging stays stable and localisation stays accurate across the stereo field. Each microphone carries the supercardioid capsule: a narrower frontal lobe and stronger off-axis rejection than cardioid, which makes the pair particularly useful where bleed is the enemy. Drum overheads in a live room, percussion in a tight space, or a spaced pair on acoustic instruments where a neighbouring source needs to stay out of the picture. Both mics share the full sE8 feature set — transformerless Class-A circuitry, switchable 80 Hz and 160 Hz low-cut filters, and switchable 10 dB and 20 dB attenuation pads — and both bodies accept the interchangeable sE8 cardioid and omnidirectional capsules, so a single stereo pair can cover three polar patterns.
